Ystradgynlais Underpass Mural
A lovely community in the heart of the Swansea / Powys valleys split in two by a busy road. An under used and dangerous underpass was the only connection between the primary and secondary school.
I was asked to work with Gurnos Primary school years 5 and 6, Maes Yr Dderwen School year 10 and the youth group Acorn to create a bright, simple, vandal resistant mural - in 8 weeks.
The project was so successful that it won first place in the following competitions:
1. Sustrans Safe Route to School National Competition
2. Community Project category with the Road Safety Council of Wales
3. Walking and Cycling category of the Institute of Logistics and Transport Cymru awards
